How They Voted On Saltwater License: Here's what you've been waiting for...get those dialing fingers to work. The vote in the senate was 32 to 30 along party lines...all it would have taken was two Long Island senators to vote no and we would have NO SWL...the two most responsible were Craig John and Brian Foley! In the Assembly the two surprises...democrats of course Bob Sweeney and Harvey Wiesenberg. Here’s The Vote…

Rich Johnson's report Ocean Eagle Tog Thursday (11/19):  Capt. Greg Nardiello reports they had some fish on Monday as they bit in the afternoon well. On Tuesday (11/17) they had good fishing in the morning, the hard running tide in the afternoon saw hard dirty water from the run off. Pool winner are 8 pounds or better with 12 pounders before the storm. Wednesday (11/18) in a sloppy ocean to start, things did calm down and the fishing was very good as they had four fish over 10 pounds and some folks in the stern had double digit numbers of blackfish. Lots of fish caught and very good fishing! He should have absolutely wild fishing by the end of the week with fast and furious action!

The Fishing Line hit the Ocean Eagle Thursday (11/19) for some blackfish. We were greeted by gentle easterly winds of less than 10 that did pick up later in the day. The bite was so-so as we picked all day with some flurries where they turned on well for 20 minutes then would shut down just as fast. I did have a 7 pounder and two other fish for a total of two keepers. Carlo had a pair of keepers after making the trip from hearing about it on the phone line. The fish did not cooperate as they should have for a November drizzly day, but it was GREAT to see Geoff back on the boat water and fishing after so long since he’s been caring for their mother. Glenn made venison burgers and a venison sort of stew over rice and many other great and delectable dishes...the Ocean Eagle is an awesome time fishing and Capt Greg is the best and I got to fish next to Bob the Jigman!!! They sail daily from Pier 5 in Sheepshead Bay at 7 a.m. Listen to Capt. Nardiello's Interview & Tips on Early Fall Blackfishing Here or listen to Capt. Greg Nardiello's Interview On Winter Blackfishing Tips & Technique

Rich Johnson's Trip On Flamingo 3 Today (11/18): Beautiful day today, light NE winds when we left the dock a few minutes late as were waiting on someone. Was greeted by what was a surprisingly ugly ocean with 3 to 5 foot rollers with some white on them. Where they came I have no idea as winds last night were nil and I was shocked to see what I saw. Most of the morning was like this and more than one person was not feeling all that good. We steamed for a little over an hour or so and got into big blues right away. Blues from 5 to 13 pounds as most were big boys 8 to 12 pounder most of the day. Four ounce diamond jigs, gold or silver worked and I tried a 6 ounce jig but it was a little too big for the fish as they gluttoning themselves on 3 to 5 inch sand eels. Don’t get me wrong, it was not savage fishing, but there was always two, three four on at one time, sometimes five or six…then no one would have one and we’d start to move and another person or two would hook up. I suppose you could call it a good, steady pick all day. We had 13 anglers and believe me we had more than enough bluefish to limit everybody on the blues so it was a goo trip. Bass were scarce as we have five keepers to 34 inches on the boat today, I happened to have one of those (31 inches) keeping my streak alive. I cannot honestly remember the last time I was on the Flamingo 3 and did not have a keeper bass…it has been several years. We probably had maybe a dozen short bass to go with those five keepers. As always Capt. Bob, Capt. Robert and of course Bernie did a fantastic job. This is only going to get better day by day and the crowds are light so get your butts down there. Everybody was shot by the end of the day battling these giant gorillas and we were back at the dock 45 minutes early as the bite died completely where we were when the tide really started humming.

It was not the good fishing we saw when it blew on Saturday, but the night bass trips have been spectacular!! Monday & Tuesday's (11/10) togging was no better as things were tough with no wind, no current and tough to stay tight on the anchor. Winds Tuesday night are to go NE 15 to 20, just what the doctored ordered for good tog action on Veteran's Day tomorrow! Some big tog in the mix as well with the pool weighing in over 12 pounds for Felipe Sanchez who caught this fish of a lifetime to go along with seven keepers on the day. Point Lookout:
Capt. Al (516-623-2248)
:
Capt. Tom Weiss says they sailed Thursday and fishing was so-so and picky with a few nice blackfish and a few sea bass for a light crowd of eight. No wind and no current made anchoring and fishing tough. Gale winds kept them tied to the dock on Friday. Saturday (11/7) was excellent with mostly sea bass and 90% of the catch was sea bass with a few blackfish. Pool winner is usually a blackfish and about 4 or 5 pounds. A few nice blues too on this trip. Remember, if your last half day bottom fishing trip was a bust, then a full day trip on the Capt. Al is a MUST. They sail every day for full day bottom fishing at 7 a.m.

Listen to Capt. Al Lindroth's radio Interview explanation for the return of Long Island codfish Click Here. Listen here to Capt. Al's Radio Interview for Tips on Sea Bass Fishing. Capt. Tom Weiss was featured on The Fishing Line TV Show in 2001. Tom & RJ scored big time on the giant sea bass with ling in the mix. Flamingo III (718-763-8745)Flamingo IIICapt. Bob Wiegand: Capt. Bob reported after being blown out four consecutive days including Saturday, Sunday as expected was downer with a few fish picked at in heavy rollers and dirty dark water. Tuesday was a very good day as they found the fish and had 28 keeper bass for 14 anglers to 25 pounds with most of them 28 to 32 inches and plenty of shorts as they fished in deep, water with plenty of blues to teen size.

Wednesday (11/18) was a beautiful day today, light NE winds when we left the dock a few minutes late as were waiting on someone.
