I missed the entire season due to Rotator Cuff Surgery and did not start fishing till October 1.

October 31:  Great meeting many new faces and some old familiar fans of the shows...here's my take.. You guys were great. The mates did over $500 for 31 of you guys...very generous and thanks for making me look good! Speaking of looking good...Amanda and Jen are a couple of real life dolls and their fishing knowledge excellent. I expect that from Amanda as the daughter of a captain...but it is Jen's first year on the boat!! Super!! I hope they continue to wear the sun visors. Fishing was tough over all with a small handful of blackfish...I didn't expect much from the tog as waters are just to warm* but worth a try as they have to start biting sometime and it could have been today as you never know...but alas it wasn’t. The porgy bite was way off and the bluefish as well....two ravenous species did not want to cooperate as they usually do...but what the heck* that is fishing and no fault of the boat* captain or crew...James great as well…I had a great time and I will be posting my pics tonight or tomorrow..

November 13: The Fishing Line group took a night trip on the Island Princess sailing Tuesday (11/13) night at 11:30 p.m. and returned a little before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. The bite was a slow pick through the night. Twenty two anglers finished with no shorts and 14 keepers to 25 pounds. High hook was Rich Johnson of The Fishing Line with three keepers, and two folks on board had two fish. We shared the fish so everyone at least got to take home some fish. The warmest night in weeks with a slow lazy ebbing tide made for a slow night fish wise but 14 keepers is nothing to sneeze about by any means.  Here are some comments sent to us from some on that trip:

A big thanks for putting together these free trips for all of us to enjoy!!!!
The boat, crew, weather, and company made for great night. Sharing the catch amongst everyone was a nice touch and very much appreciated. Catch em up.........Angus63

I got to say I had a great time (even caught a fish). Island Princess Capt. Brian, mates KC and Dan were the best..... Met and made some new friends.... Overall great bunch of guys to go out and have a good time with. Last but not least.... RJ you’re a Class Act......George K / New Jersey

I had a great time and it was nice to meet a few of you fellow fisherman. The Capt. really tried very hard to find the fish and the mates were great, and ready to help in a flash. Very nice boat very clean and comfortable. Rich, I'm glad you brought those hats, came in very handy each time we moved to a new spot. I will go out on this boat again Thank you,…Chevy1

I want to first thank RJ & captains Nick & Brian for making all this happen I know it has to be a lot of hard work. the crew of capt Brian with mates Casey and Dan were top notch…this boat is a class act and will definitely sail with them again though I was skunked, but at the last whistle I hooked up with a keeper bass, the capt tried hard to get us on fish but tough fishing with no wind/drift… shmikeynyc / NYC

Thanks for having me on the striper trip... I didn’t catch anything but hey any bad day of fishing is better then any good day at work. Thanks to the mates for such a great job of helping me get back in the game every time we snagged a rock or bottom...-KEVO

Awesome Job Island Princess - Spectacular night with a great bunch of people - Tks++ for making it all happen RJ. Mr. & Ms TunaFinatic - thanks for the laughs…Quest4GiantBlue

Thanks RJ for the trip and the great group of fellow fisherman on the boat. One of the best group of people I've been out on a boat with. Thanks to the Capt. Brian and mates KC and Dan for the quick rigging when we got stuck in those sticky spots. It was a pleasure meeting everyone from the board…fergyfish

November 29: I took a trip on the Flamingo 3 on Thursday (11/29) and not having been on many trips this year because I missed the whole season…I earned my striped today. Hard SW winds and sloppy, sloppy conditions and 3 to 5 footers. I looked like I had never been on a party boat before as I tried to get a season’s worth of sea legs in one trip. Fishing was good at times, and picky at others despite the vast amount of bird life. The blues were everywhere on every drop and HUGE…the average blue had to be 10 pounds, some smaller and some even larger in the teens. They were all lit up and black backed and FAT. There were a few short bass caught, no where near as many as the 200 to 300 they had on Wednesday and there were four keepers caught to 12 pounds or so. I had two of the keepers and my back is killing me as I write this at 5:45 p.m. as I try to make up for lost time with sore muscles it felt great to be out there and catching tons of giant bluefish.

December 11: I did a trip Tuesday (12/11) on the Flamingo 3. All the signs seem to be pointing to the end on the season as it was all small fish 18 to 22 inches and a 26 incher was a large fish on this trip. I had a decent number of shorts, but they came in spurts as the action was very scattered and while we read the fish they did not want to cooperate and we had long stretches with no fish or driving around looking for enough life to jig on. They did have one large bluefish about 10 pounds and that was the only blue of the trip as they are basically gone. They are planning on finishing the season and sailing everyday if people show.
